Issuing the Certificates

A Family Records Certificate (about a birth, death, marriage, divorce or change of name) can be ordered through the e-population register portal

These certificates  and printouts of the Estonian Population Register (vital statistics certificate or extract) can also required through the Embassy.

The consul may issue an extract or certificate of birth, death, marriage, divorce and name change from the Population Register. Certificates of vital statistic events can be issued only for those events that are registered in the Population Register. Certificates of birth, death, marriage, divorce, and name change may be issued in Estonian, English, German and French languages.

In order to apply for a certificate, please present an application together with a copy of your passport/ID-card and state fee to the Embassy either personally or via mail.

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK

In order to get a notice from the Criminal Records Database a query must be made first. The certificate is issued in Estonian language and you can apply for a consul’s certificate in English at the Embassy.

In order to do so please send via email the digital certificate in an original container from the Database, free form application, copy of your passport / ID-card and the state fee.

CERTIFICATE CONFIRMING THE VALIDITY OF ESTONIAN DRIVER’S LICENCE

When applying for a Canadian driver’s license, you may be required to provide proof of the validity of your Estonian driver’s license. To apply for a certificate, please send us a copy of both sides of your driver’s license, a free-form application, a copy of your passport or ID card, and the pay the state fee.
